Frequently asked

What’s the difference between "actual cash value" and "replacement cost"?+

Actual cash value (ACV) pays what your item is worth today after depreciation — often a fraction of what you paid. Replacement cost pays what it costs to buy a new equivalent. ACV policies are cheaper but can leave you significantly underpaid after a loss.

Why are claim filing deadlines so important?+

Most policies require notice "as soon as practicable" or within a fixed window (e.g., 30, 60, or 90 days). Missing the deadline can cause your claim to be denied entirely — even if the loss is otherwise covered. Our analyzer surfaces every deadline buried in the policy.

What is a "sub-limit" and how does it differ from my policy limit?+

Your policy might have a $300,000 personal property limit, but a $1,000 sub-limit on jewelry, $2,500 on electronics, and $200 on cash. After a burglary, you’ll discover the sub-limits matter far more than the headline number. We extract them all.

What is subrogation?+

After paying your claim, your insurer can step into your shoes and sue whoever caused the loss to recover what they paid. This usually doesn’t affect you, but if you sign a release with the at-fault party first, you may void your own coverage.
